Two passengers had to be medically evacuated on Sunday from the cruise ship Ruby Princess, including a 99-year-old male in this video who the Coast Guard said was suffering from “complete esophageal obstruction.” The Ruby Princess had been just a few days into its 11-night journey from San Francisco to Alaska. The other evacuated passenger, a 52-year-old female who suffered sudden cardiac arrest, was airlifted by the Royal Canadian Air Force and taken to a hospital in Victoria, British Columbia.

The cruise liner that sparked a COVID outbreak in Sydney in 2020 has a new virus cluster. The Ruby Princess docked in San Francisco after a 15-day Panama Canal trip with more than 70 positive cases onboard. Princess Cruises said all cases were fully vaccinated and were quarantined on the ship. Some were put up in hotels to complete their quarantine ashore.
