Came across this little guy, which is a Giant Leopard Moth. As you can see they have these hidden red rings on their body. When threatened they will curl up into a tight ball and expose those bright rings. WHAT IN THE WOOLLY WORM was about to crawl on my foot? Could it be a giant leopard moth caterpillar in the Florida Everglades? Whatever it is, one thing’s for sure, it’s the perfect spooky sighting in October! Critter Connoisseurs, please feel free to lend a hand in identifying this huge woolly bear of a creature. I was tempted to pick up this 3” porcupine looking caterpillar, but safety always comes first. I was pretty sure it was not venomous, but I never handle wildlife unless I have positive
