On this day, 83 years ago (February 5, 1940), Glenn Miller and his Orchestra recorded their hit version of “Tuxedo Junction” in New York. Written by Erskine Hawkins, Bill Johnson, and Julian Dash, Glenn’s version was quickly a no. 1 hit featuring solos by trumpet players, Johnny Best and Bobby Hackett.
