In 1984, Gary Plauche tracked down and killed his 12-year-old son's kidnapper, Jeff Doucet, on live television. After his son was recovered and Doucet taken into custody, Plauche waited incognito at the airport, pulled a gun and shot Doucet straight through the head while the cameras were rolling. He was given a 7 year suspended sentence with five years' probation and 300 hours of community service and received no prison time.
