The fearful-avoidant (also known as disorganized) attachment style develops when a person has experienced both a deep need for connection and a simultaneous fear of it, usually due to early relational trauma, inconsistent caregiving, or even abuse or neglect. Unlike dismissive-avoidant individuals who suppress their attachment needs and maintain a strong sense of independence, fearful-avoidants experience a push-pull dynamic: they crave closeness but are deeply afraid of it due to past experienc
