I used to be a chronic, “good jobber.” This is why I stopped saying “Good job” and what I started doing instead. I have found it to be much more effective at reinforcing behavior. It also increases a child’s understanding of the consequences of their actions. It takes some practice to break out of the habit of blanket good jobs but it is so worth it.
