These behaviors can include hand flapping, rocking back and forth, spinning, or making repetitive sounds or vocalizations. Stimming serves different purposes for different individuals. It can help regulate sensory input, provide a sense of comfort, alleviate anxiety, or express excitement or joy ❤️ Some indiv

Spinning is a form of stimming. Adam doesn’t do it as much as some other autistic kids. They can spin for a long period of time and not feel dizzy at all. It’s amazing just like a ballet dancer doing her spin. But for me, goodness gracious, when Adam took me on a little spin, I wasn’t able to open my eyes for some 5 minutes after that. My son was absolutely fine. He continued stimming shortly after he retired daddy. Let me know if your autistic child spin as well in the comments below. #adamsaut

stimming is a form of emotional regulation which is especially common in autistic people 💛 it’s often seen as “bad” or “weird” and we’re taught from a young age to mask any behaviours which stand out - but stimming can actually be incredibly useful for emotional regulation! this video shows some examples of stims including both positive and negative (happy emotions and frustrated/overwhelmed emotions) movements i do often 🫶🏻 • #neurodivergent #autistic #disabled #selfacceptance #youareenough

I thought everyone did this.” Turns out not everyone does. 👀✨ Here are 8 signs of visual stimming that many undiagnosed autistic adults assume are just “normal habits”: 1. Watching light move — reflections on walls, ceiling fans, sun through leaves, headlights sliding across the road. 2. Fixating on patterns — tiles, brick lines, fabric textures, spreadsheets, repeating shapes that feel soothing. 3. Replaying visual scenes in your head — movies, shows, memories, or imagined visuals on a mental
