The north does castles differently. . . 🏰 Northumberland has over 70 castles in its region all with immense history and tales behind them. ⠀ Bamburgh Castle was once the seat of the Kings of Northumbria, long before England existed as we know it. It later became a target during Viking incursions along this coast — a symbol of authority worth fighting for. ⠀ Further south, Dunstanburgh Castle was built on an exposed headland not for comfort, but to dominate the sea route — its isolation part of
