This Mega Man X3 mod called Zero Project by Justin3009 is amazing. It gives you the option to switch back and forth between Mega Man and Zero as many times as you want and removes Zero's permadeath. It also replaces the password system with a save system. It even updates the dialogue to fit whoever you're playing as.
