In 1948, the UK government placed an advertisement in a Jamaican newspaper inviting Jamaicans to the UK to help to rebuild the country and fill job roles after the war.⠀ ⠀ The Windrush ship set sail with approximately 500 migrants, many of whom were ex servicemen who had fought in WWII. (Approximately 10,000 West Indians had volunteered to fight in the war for Britain). The passengers on The Windrush were coming to a country promising prosperity and employment.⠀ ⠀ What they found on arrival was
