The Swiss Armed Forces (German: Schweizer Armee; French: Armée suisse; Italian: Esercito svizzero; Romansh: Armada svizra; lit. 'Swiss Army') are the military and security force of Switzerland, consisting of land and air service branches.

The Swiss Armed Forces defends our country and people against a military attack. It supports the civilian authorities in dealing with natural disasters and in countering serious threats to internal security. And it assists within the context of international peace support and humanitarian aid.

In order to remain capable of protecting Switzerland and its inhabitants, the Armed Forces must consistently strengthen their defence capabilities in all operational areas. The vision and strategy for achieving this have been set out in writing by the Armed Forces leadership.
