Some North Alabama school systems announced that they will be operating on a delay Monday morning following the recent winter storm that moved through the area.

Schools across Alabama, including some in our coverage area, are making the decision to close on Tuesday as winter weather including snow and freezing rain is expected to impact much of the state.

Even colder wind chills and continuing icy road conditions will lead to more widespread school closings in West Michigan Wednesday.

This is part of "the historic winter storm along the Gulf Coast and Southeast," the National Weather Service reported.

Schools intend to reopen Thursday but were worried about travel conditions Wednesday under the threat of ice and snow.

As a winter storm moves through Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, some school districts are beginning to announce if classes will resume.
