According to the emergency services app Pulse Point, an “expanded traffic collision” was reported at 6:47 p.m. at I-5 and Meridian Street. That wording is usually used to describe a crash involving a rollover or a motorcycle, bicycle or pedestrian.

The Oregon Department of Transportation said the closure was likely to remain in place through morning rush hour traffic.

Southbound I-5 is fully closed at Northwest Avenue, and the right line is closed on northbound I-5 in Bellingham due to a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday.

One lane of traffic along both directions of I-5 is closed at Northwest Avenue as troopers investigate. Troopers say a driver in a car hit a pedestrian just before 7:30 p.m. Medics and law enforcement responded to the scene.
