US stocks pushed higher on Wednesday amid another batch of corporate earnings and as President Trump's new deadline to impose tariffs loomed. Apple stock rose Wednesday on news that CEO Tim Cook will join President Trump at the White House to announce a new $100 billion investment in domestic manufacturing.

Apple's stock surge on Wednesday added $153 billion in market capitalization to the iPhone maker, its eighth biggest one-day gain on record. Wednesday's market-cap gain was larger than the individual market caps of the smallest 435 companies in the S&P 500 index,

The Dow finished up 0.2%, a modest advance compared with rival large-cap gauges. Winners were led by Apple AAPL, with its 5.1% jump also contributing to gains on the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq composite. The Nasdaq composite scored a 1.2% rise and marked its second-highest close on record. The S&P 500 ended up by 0.7%.
