The eight biggest movie theater chains in the U.S. and Canada — including AMC and Regal — will invest $2.2 billion to make upgrades.

The largest theater chains including AMC Entertainment , Regal Cinemas and Cinemark will invest more than $2.2 billion over the next three years to upgrade theaters in the U.S. and Canada, an industry group announced on Thursday.

The eight largest movie theater chains in North America (AMC, Regal, Cinemark, and others) have announced a collective investment of over $2.2 billion to upgrade more than 21,000 screens in the next three years.
