The ingredients for Mississippi Pot Roast are simple: your family's favorite type of beef roast, a packet of ranch seasoning, pepperoncini peppers, a stick of butter and a packet of au jus gravy mix.
You only bake this pot roast at 300 degrees. You can even cook it longer and at 275 degrees if your oven tends to run hot. It takes about 3 to 3 1/2 hours for a 4-pound pot roast to cook.
Preparation 1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. 2. Pat the roast dry with paper towels and generously salt and pepper all sides of the roast.
First, liberally sprinkle the chuck roast with the salt, white pepper, black pepper, red pepper flakes and the beef seasoning. Then set it aside for about 15 minutes or so.
