Arrowhead Game Studios founder and Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt, who now holds the position of chief creative officer at the company, is taking a sabbatical and working on an all-new game upon his return.

Helldivers 2 celebrates its one-year milestone, but CCO of Arrowhead, Johan Pilestedt is taking a break after 11 years of leading the franchise.

Arrowhead's boss Johan Pilestedt will be taking a sabbatical to focus on his personal life, and once he's back will work on their next game.

Helldiver's 2's former CEO, now CCO, made headlines earlier this week—including ours—by announcing he'd be on a sabbatical following years of hard work. As for why that's a big deal, well, Pilestedt has been particularly vocal as far as creative leads and directors go,

Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt issued a statement regarding his sabbatical, and teased its next game in the process.

"11 years of working 'around the clock' on the same IP has made me set aside family, friends and my lovely wife... and myself."
