According to John Shipley of Sports Illustrated, Rivera met with the Jacksonville Jaguars over the weekend to discuss a potential role on first-year head coach Liam Coen’s staff.

The Jaguars are speaking with Ron Rivera, who could be a trusted voice to help guide first-time head coach Liam Coen.

Former head coach Ron Rivera interviewed for a role on the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff over the weekend, according to John Shipley of Jaguars on Sports Illustrated. Shipley adds that the specifics of what Rivera's role might be are unknown at this time.

After a long coaching search that took a few unnecessary turns, the Jacksonville Jaguars finally landed on former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen as their new head coach. Now, they are focused on building a staff around Coen as he looks to turn things around quickly in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars also hired former Panthers outside linebackers coach Tem Lukabu, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Lukabu will be the linebackers coach in Jacksonville under new defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, who was hired on Friday.
