Mr. Lander, the New York City comptroller and a candidate for mayor, was handcuffed as he tried to steer a man past Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

One day after New York City Comptroller and current Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander was arrested at federal immigration court, two members of the state's congressional delegation say they were denied access for an oversight visit Wednesday.

Lander was released four hours after his arrest. He told the media that he was at the courthouse to "accompany" a defendant out of immigration court.
