The electric-car maker reported net income of $2.5 billion, a result driven in part by strong growth in Tesla’s energy business.

For the quarter that ended on Dec. 31, Tesla reported adjusted earnings per share of 73 cents, up from 71 cents per share in the same quarter of the previous year, on revenue of $25.71 billion, up 2% year-over-year. Both figures fell short of the 76 cents per share and revenue of $27.23 billion expected by analysts.

The electric car company run by Elon Musk is facing increasing competition, but investors have focused mostly on the prospects for Tesla’s self-driving technology.

The company faces a number of questions about its future, including its plan to release more affordable models.
