The United Auto Workers union is eying multiple U.S. strikes against French-Italian carmaker Stellantis about a year after a national walkout cost the Detroit Three automakers billions of dollars and idled 50,

United Auto Workers union President Shawn Fain said Tuesday the union plans to hold strike authorization votes against Stellantis because the automaker is failing to live up to guarantees it made in the 2023 labor deal it reached with the union at the conclusion of a six-week strike.

The United Auto Workers will ask members to green light a strike against Stellantis NV, escalating an already tense standoff with one of the world’s largest car manufacturers.
