Real Madrid, who are five-time Club World Cup winners, will begin their campaign for a sixth title when they play their first game of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup against Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal this Wednesday. The game will also be the first that the team plays under new coach Xabi Alonso, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti on June 1.

The Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has chosen to back the Club World Cup in the face of criticism from La Liga president Javier Tebas.
