At least 95 people have been killed after a powerful earthquake struck a remote region of Tibet on Tuesday morning, according to Chinese authorities, with tremors felt in neighboring Nepal and parts of northern India.

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake rocked the northern foothills of the Himalayas near one of Tibet's holiest cities on Tuesday, Chinese authorities said, killing at least 95 people and shaking buildings in neighbouring Nepal,

According to regional disaster relief headquarters, the 6.8 magnitude quake took place at 9:05 am Tuesday (Beijing Time). However, according to the The US Geological Service, the quake's magnitude was 7.
