The South Carolina Republican’s resolution comes two weeks after the historic election of Democrat Sarah McBride, a trans woman, to Congress.

Republican Representative Nancy Mace is facing criticisms of bullying and bigotry after filing a resolution that would prevent the first transgender member of the chamber, Sarah McBride, from using the women’s restroom in the Capitol — a move that’s likely a bid to appeal to Donald Trump’s conservative base.

McBride, the first out transgender person elected to Congress, will be serving in the House starting next year and Mace doesn't want her using women's bathrooms at the Capitol.
