More than 100 people were arrested on Monday night in Los Angeles, as "fringe groups" continued late-night protests, City of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said.

U.S. Marines have temporarily detained a man after he walked onto the property of a federal building they were guarding in Los Angeles.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom delivered a statewide address on Tuesday in the wake of immigration operations that sparked days of protest in Los Angeles and the deployment of hundreds of National Guard and U.S. Marines troops to the area by President Trump.

Social media users claim a video of a Marine attack helicopter flew over LA to monitor protests. Military aircraft routinely fly out of air stations near San Diego, and the video was recorded before protests began in Los Angeles.

More than 700 Marines based out of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in California have been mobilized to respond to the protests in Los Angeles, and the troops will join the thousands of National Guard members who were activated by President Donald Trump over the weekend without the consent of California’s governor or LA’s mayor.

Saturday marks the first full day of Marines on duty in Los Angeles, one week after protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids ignited in LA.
