The world No. 1 overcame a brief lapse during the first set of a 6-4, 6-2 victory over No. 93 Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong in his second match back on tour in front of his home crowd at the Italian Open on Monday.

Carlos Alcaraz won in straight sets despite a strong challenge from Jack Draper to reach the Italian Open semifinals, and Coco Gauff extended her unbeaten streak against Mirra Andreeva to also advance to the last four at the clay-court tournament Wednesday.

Alcaraz, who won the Monte Carlo Masters in April, improved to 12-1 on clay this season. The four-time Grand Slam champion will next face No. 5 Jack Draper, who rallied past Corentin Moutet 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 on the red clay courts of the Foro Italico.
