Gmail Adds Security Verification For iPhone, Android Users
You know the blue ticks that verified users of X have displayed next to their name? A better, more trustworthy, version is coming to Gmail users on iOS and Android.
All iPhone and Android users given new way to spot spam messages in Gmail
To try and counter this worrying trend, Google has announced it is expanding its sender verification system to the iPhone and Android versions of the incredibly popular Gmail app. This comes in the form of blue identity verification checkmarks next to the sender’s name in the email, indicating the message really is from that brand or company.
Gmail's blue checkmark is here to keep your inbox safe on Android and iOS
Launched last year on Gmail's web version to combat spam and phishing, the blue verified checkmark is now rolling out to Gmail apps on Android and iOS. The feature is part of Gmails BIMI system, where senders with BIMI certification and a registered trademark will display verified checkmarks next to their brand.

The blue checkmarks that Gmail introduced to verify senders last year are now coming to the Android and iOS app. The Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) standard shows brand logos in the “avatar slot” next to a sender’s name and address.
