An Australian court found the smartphone app stores of Apple and Google-owned Android were uncompetitive, local media reported on Tuesday, in a partial victory for Fortnite game developer Epic Games against the tech giants.

Epic Games has secured a significant win against tech giants Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG) in an Australian federal court.

A Ninth Circuit ruling this week sides in favor of Epic Games, allowing its Android app store to be placed within the Google Play Store. It's been reported that Google will seemingly seek an appeal, potentially through the "full Ninth Circuit first.
