No. 7-seed and reigning ACC champion Duke was overpowered by No. 2-seed Florida State Friday afternoon as the Seminoles rode an eight-run third inning to a 14-7 victory in Durham. Florida State scored in all but two innings to cruise to victory and leave the Blue Devils waiting to learn where they will head for an NCAA regional.

Florida State’s bats were hot early against Duke, and the Seminoles advanced to the ACC Tournament semifinal round. The Blue Devils must now await their NCAA Tournament fate.

In Thursday night's ACC Tournament quarterfinal, No. 12 Clemson pulled off a 7-6 win over No. 20 NC State thanks to a relentless offensive push in the eighth. Cam Cannarella led the way with four hits, while Jacob Jarrell hit his 14th homer and added an RBI single during the Tigers' late rally.

As the ACC edges closer towards another football season, there has been mass restructuring across the conference. Since last year saw two ACC teams make the College Football Playoff. Yet, both Clemson and SMU endured short tenures as both SMU and Clemson were eliminated in the first round of the Playoff.
