The U.S. State Department said on Saturday a Maryland resident deported to El Salvador is "alive and secure" in a terrorism confinement center there, after a U.S. Judge demanded updates on the Trump administration's efforts to secure his return.

In a filing on Saturday, the U.S. State Department, however, did not address a judge's demands that the Trump administration detail what steps it is taking to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States.
