Dangerous swimming conditions are expected for Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Kenosha and Racine July 6 due to high waves and windy conditions, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS issued a beach hazards statement July 6, saying life-threatening waves of 4 to 6 feet are expected Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.
The National Weather Service said waves will build on July 5 and boaters and swimmers should use caution or even stay out of the water.
Strong currents in Lake Michigan are expected to subside as wind direction and wind speed change Tuesday, July 8.
