Ventura issued permits for six cannabis dispensaries and three have opened so far. The other three won't open, since their permits expired June 30.
Jason Robert Steiner was arraigned on charges related to the Oct. 3 shooting at North Portland's La Mota dispensary. He pleaded not guilty on all counts.
According to the DA, Steiner told police he was held at gunpoint by three armed men on Oct. 3 at the La Mota dispensary in the 9400 block of North St. Louis Avenue where he was working alone.
The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission said La Mota has reported four other robberies at its St. Johns dispensary.
The La Mota location has been licensed since May 2023 and has not had any previous violations issued by OLCC. There have been four previous reported robberies at the shop, according to the commission.

Just about three years later, Steiner would be arrested on allegations of second-degree murder for allegedly shooting dead two armed robbers during a break-in at a La Mota dispensary in St. Johns.
Steiner worked at the St. Johns branch of the La Mota dispensary, police said. Officials identified the people who died as 18-year-old King Lawrence and 20-year-old Tahir Burley.
