The portfolio holder said providing an initial supply of caddy liners to residents would make the process of collecting food waste and putting caddies out “easier”.
As part of the rollout, households will receive new wheelie bins, a Get Set leaflet detailing the changes and a starter roll of food caddy liners.
Peterborough City Council launched a scheme in September which will see all flats supplied with an indoor food caddy and a roll of liners.
The starter kit will include a kitchen caddy for waste, biodegradable caddy liners, an information booklet and a collection schedule in the form of a kitchen magnet, QR code or calendar.
Households will also receive 52 compostable caddy liners for the first year of the scheme. Once the caddy is full, residents will be asked to empty it into the new outside food waste bin.
