All 1.4 million Luma Energy clients across Puerto Rico were without power on Wednesday. The blackout comes less than five months after another island-wide power outage on New Year's Eve.

The entire island of Puerto Rico lost electricity Wednesday afternoon when the island’s power plants were knocked out of service, according to Luma Energy, which generates electricity in Puerto Rico, the latest breakdown of the territory’s faulty electric grid.

The island of Puerto Rico is suffering another island-wide power outage, just months after a dayslong blackout on New Year's Eve kept residents in the dark. Luma Energy said the complete interruption to its service began at about 12:40 p.m local time on Wednesday.
