Former Republican Representative and attorney general nominee Matt Gaetz was quizzed by Bill Maher on accusations that he had paid for sex and engaged in sex with an "underage girl." Newsweek has reached out to a representative for Gaetz outside of normal working hours for comment.

Maher's interview with Matt Gaetz comes weeks after the former representative resigned from Congress and launched his own show and podcast.

Trump initially tapped Gaetz to be his attorney general in his second administration, but the Florida Republican withdrew his name from consideration after backlash from both Republicans and Democrats. Gaetz is now hosting his own talk show on The One America News (OAN) Network, a far-right broadcaster.
