The U.S. Supreme Court agreed on Friday to hear a bid by religious parents to keep their children out of classes in a Maryland public school district when LGBT storybooks are read, the latest case to come to the justices involving the intersection between religion and LGBT rights.

The case involves whether parents' religious rights were violated when a Maryland school district declined to allow them to opt their children out of gender and sexuality instruction.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore's proposed 2026 budget would cut $111 million in state funding from the University System of Maryland, according to The Banner.
