Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and more have paid tribute to David Lynch, the 'Twin Peaks' and 'Blue Velvet' director who died at 78 years old.

Steven Spielberg, James Gunn, Kumail Nanjiani, Melanie Lynskey and more creatives in Hollywood reacted in mourning and admiration to the death of iconic filmmaker David Lynch, who died Thursday at 78.

The filmmaker, who died this week, mixed the menacing with the everyday, the banal with the surreal and sublime.

Numerous leaders in entertainment, celebrities, and former collaborators have mourned the death of revolutionary filmmaker David Lynch.

Both Steven Spielberg and David Lynch are legendary filmmakers, and the Jaws director admires the Twin Peaks creator greatly. In fact, he cast Lynch as John Ford in The Fabelmans back in 2022. In a statement published Variety, Spielberg noted that role and his relationship with the director, saying:

Oscar-winning director and Happy Days star Ron Howard paid tribute to Lynch on social media, writing: “#RIPDavidLynch, a gracious man and fearless artist who followed his heart & soul and proved that radical experimentation could yield unforgettable cinema.”

David Lynch, who died Thursday at age 78, was remembered by his many collaborators, as well as those he inspired, such as "Donnie Darko" director Richard Kelly.
