Utah hires Dallas Mavericks assistant Alex Jensen to be new head coach
Jensen has been an NBA assistant coach for 12 seasons. He spent 10 years with the Utah Jazz before joining Dallas in 2023. Utah will be his first head coaching job since leading the Canton Charge in the NBA D-League from 2011-13.

Ten days after firing Craig Smith, Utah has landed its next men's head basketball coach. The school is hiring Dallas Mavericks assistant Alex Jensen, sources confirmed to CBS Sports. Jensen is a 48-year-old alum who played for Rick Majerus and was on the legendary 1997-98 Runnin' Utes team that went all the way to the national title game against Kentucky.
