‘Road conditions will deteriorate through the day,’ National Weather Service says as storm moves in
Later this afternoon and evening are expected to bring the heaviest snowfall and the worst conditions on the roads across a big part of Michigan.
A winter storm that passed through Michigan Saturday night dropping as much as a foot of snow in west Michigan, the National Weather Service said.
Snow arrived as expected Saturday throughout the morning and early afternoon, causing some roads to turn a bit slushy during the day.
A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 9:06 a.m. EST in effect until 7 p.m. EST for Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties.
The snowfall from Saturday evening through early Sunday was the heaviest of the season so far. The rest of this week will be cold and windy.
Southern Minnesota got the brunt of this weekend’s long-lasting snowstorm, with some of the highest totals centered around Rochester, according to the National Weather Service. Meteorologist Brennan Dettmann said the Rochester area recorded 7 to 8.
NEXT weather meteorologist Katie Steiner says a winter storm that moved into Minnesota on Friday night will be out of the state later this morning. A cold air mass will settle behind the system.
