Lawyers for R&B superstar R. Kelly say the singer was taken to the hospital, alleging he suffered an "overdose" caused by officials at prison.

In 2019 the documentary Surviving R. Kelly re-investigated his alleged sexual misconduct with minors, which lead to authorities looking into the claims made against him again.

Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking in June 2022.

This marks his third attempt to get his client out of prison. Kelly was arrested in 2019, with accusations of sexual abuse for incidents spanning from 1991 to 2018.

R. Kelly was hospitalized last week after an overdose in prison from medication given to him by prison staff, lawyers are claiming.
