Citing declining membership and other challenges, the YMCA of the North recently laid off 69 of its employees. On Friday, the organization confirmed that it had laid off 59 full-time and 10 part-time employees. The layoffs affect around 1.8% of the YMCA's total staff.

The YMCA of the North has reported deficits every year since 2020. Leaders say the nonprofit is facing rising expenses and changing consumer behaviors.
