The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office says one person is dead after a motorcycle crash. The crash happened around 4 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of the US 127 Bypass and US 68 (Lexington Road). Deputies say a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle collided.

OHP said Harold Butler, 60, was driving when his rear tire blew and he lost control and crashed on the highway. Butler died on the scene and his passenger had several injuries and was hospitalized. Troopers said they were not wearing helmets.

An Irving police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday evening while off-duty, the department said in a news release.

The rider died after the motorcycle went down a ravine while riding on a trail near the 4800 block of Summit Valley Road, according to the CHP.
