When a fleeing bicyclist pulled out a gun, a Flagler County Sheriff's deputy used his vehicle to knock the man off the bicycle, authorities said.

Officials noted that McDermott has an extensive arrest history in Flagler County dating back to 2013. Prior to this incident, he had been released from the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on December 17, 2024, after serving a 90-day sentence for possession of fentanyl.
