Today is a 48 FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY for the potential of strong to severe storms developing later this evening and into Sunday morning. Expect shower and thunderstorm activity through the afternoon with winds picking up out of the southeast.

Strong to severe storms are likely across portions of central Alabama late this evening and into the wee hours of Sunday morning. Damaging winds are the primary threat, but a tornado and/or large hail is also possible.

The Storm Prediction Center outlines an enhanced risk for severe storms over west Alabama on Saturday. The most active period for Central Alabama will begin after dark Saturday and last through early Sunday morning.
