WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's outgoing administration is finalizing rules on Tuesday that will effectively bar nearly all Chinese cars and trucks from the U.S. market, as part of a crackdown on vehicle software and hardware from China.

In a conversation about its Chinese competitors with the host of the Fully Charged Podcast, Robert Llewellyn, he admitted that his daily driver was a car made by one of Ford's Chinese competitors: an EV by consumer electronics giant Xiaomi called the SU7.

The move comes 11 months after the Commerce Department launched an investigation into the national security risks from Chinese vehicle technology.
