President Trump’s removal of Billy Long as head of the IRS after only two months on the job has cast an uncomfortable spotlight on the agency, which already churned through six different leaders this year.

Billy Long ended his brief tenure as IRS commissioner Friday, posting on X that President Donald Trump will nominate him to be ambassador to Iceland.

The former congressman and auctioneer had been confirmed by the Senate in June. He was the sixth commissioner of the agency this year.
