The protests come after a 17-year-old male student armed with a pistol opened fire in the cafeteria of Antioch High School, fatally wounding a 16-year-old girl & injuring another.
The bill outlines a process for parents to apply for approximately $7,000 “scholarships” in public taxpayer money for their children to attend private schools in the state.
In all, Tennessee leaders passed more than a billion dollars in new programs and projects, including school voucher expansion, new immigration enforcement laws and relief for East Tennessee.
