A smart chimpanzee at a zoo in Guangzhou, China, wowed tourists in late February: the hungry ape had spotted a banana outside of its enclosure – the resourceful primate hatched the perfect plan.

The chimpanzee was the first addition to the troop to be born at the zoo in more than a decade. A cosmic connection of sorts, he even shares a birthday with the baby who came before him.
