The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to uphold a law that requires ByteDance Ltd. to sell TikTok or face a ban of the app. Several publications reported on the court’s position today following a three-hour hearing about the matter. During the hearing, several justices leaned towards accepting the U.S. government’s arguments in favor of the law.

The Supreme Court signaled it’s likely to uphold a law that would ban the popular TikTok social media platform in the US if it isn’t sold by its Chinese parent company by Jan. 19.

TikTok will be fighting for its life Friday, as the U.S. Supreme Court is due to hear arguments over a bipartisan law that aims to ban the video-sharing app on Jan. 19 if it continues to be controlled by its Chinese parent company, ByteDance Ltd.
