The latest Northern Lights forecast means the aurora borealis may be seen in the continental U.S. tonight after space weather experts predicted a geomagnetic storm.

Aurora borealis is one of the coolest astronomical events that we can see with the naked eye. It makes the sky glow beautiful colors, and auroras are just random enough to be exciting occurrences. The Met Office has revealed the parts of the UK that could witness the Northern Lights tonight and intense solar activity may mean the lights are visible more often this year

According to Met Office aurora maps, the best time to spot the Northern Lights is midnight tonight (March 15). In a Met Office livestream about UK weather, meteorologist Honor Criswick said the aurora looks to be "quite bright" across northern parts of Scotland, with clear spells offering sky watchers "a good chance of seeing [aurora] tonight".
